A short Eulogy for Eunice follows below:

Eunice was born on October 2, 1927, to William and Mary Hodgkinson on the family farm in Belmont, Manitoba. The youngest of five sisters, she was raised during the Depression years—an experience that shaped her strong work ethic, resilience, and deep devotion to family.

In 1946, Eunice moved with her family to Brandon, where she began working at Brown & Murray and later at Eaton’s. Soon after arriving in Brandon, she joined First Church United, where her faith took firm root. She taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and became active in church life. It was there she met the love of her life, Arthur—Art.

Eunice and Art were married in 1951 and shared a wonderful marriage marked by love, faith, and commitment for 62 years. From the early 1960s onward, their days were grounded in a shared daily devotional, reading The Upper Room together—quiet moments of reflection that remained central to Eunice’s life right up until her passing. Eunice was predeceased by her husband, Art, in 2013.

Family meant everything to Eunice. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, known for her warmth, encouragement, and genuine appreciation for life’s big and small blessings—always offering a heartfelt “thank you.” She lovingly preserved family history, sharing the Hodgkinson family album at her 95th birthday celebration.

Eunice was also known for her competitive spirit and sense of fun. She excelled at bowling, was a formidable checkers player, and took card games very seriously. She loved gardening with Art, sharing her beautiful flowers generously, and she delighted in baking—especially her cookies, dainties, fruitcake, and much-loved homemade buns.

Travel brought Eunice great joy, from family road trips and camping adventures to later journeys across Canada, the United States, Europe, and beyond. In retirement, Eunice and Art spent many winters in Texas, building friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime.

At age 93, Eunice moved to Fairview, where she embraced a vibrant new community. She remained socially active, enjoying games, music, and the companionship of staff and residents alike. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Fairview staff for their exceptional care and kindness.

Eunice lived a life of faith, love, gratitude, and joy—a life well lived.

Complete eulogy will be posted on Brockie Donovan and Brandon Sun Obituary pages after the service.
